Federal Judge in Rio de Janeiro, with experience in a Federal Court division specializing in Intellectual Property. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Law from UERJ, a Ph.D. from USP, and was a Visiting Scholar at Columbia Law School and the Max Planck Institute in Munich. She previously served as a Public Prosecutor at the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ), Federal Attorney at the Office of the Attorney General for the Federal Government, and Assistant Judge to a Justice of the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court.

Juan Andrés Vanrell é advogado e consultor jurídico internacional, atuando como advogado associado na Vanrell Propiedad Intelectual, escritório sediado no Uruguai com alcance na América Latina. Filho do agente de propriedade industrial Juan Eduardo Vanrell, dá continuidade à tradição familiar na gestão e proteção jurídica de ativos imateriais na região.

Sua prática abrange a consultoria estratégica, o contencioso administrativo e judicial e a negociação de contratos de propriedade industrial, com foco na proteção transfronteiriça de marcas, patentes, direitos autorais e repressão à concorrência desleal. Juan Andrés Vanrell is an attorney and international legal consultant, serving as an associate at Vanrell Propiedad Intelectual, a Uruguay-based firm with a Latin American reach. Son of industrial property agent Juan Eduardo Vanrell, he continues his family’s tradition in the management and legal protection of intangible assets throughout the region.

His practice includes strategic advisory work, administrative and judicial litigation, and the negotiation of industrial property agreements, with a focus on the cross-border protection of trademarks, patents, copyright, and enforcement against unfair competition. He represents local clients and international corporations in the registration and enforcement of IP portfolios before Uruguay’s industrial property authority and through regional networks.

He serves as ASIPI Delegate for Uruguay and is an active participant in events of the Young Professionals Committee of the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI). He regularly speaks at international congresses and symposia on the regulatory challenges posed by emerging technologies and the harmonization of intellectual property systems in the Southern Cone.

Jéssica Pinheiro Oyarzábal is an attorney, researcher, and Intellectual Property specialist at SKO Oyarzábal Marcas e Patentes, a long-established law firm based in Rio Grande do Sul with more than four decades of experience. She is active in the innovation ecosystem, providing legal advice to companies, startups, and inventors on the protection of trademarks, patents, industrial designs, and digital assets.

Her career combines preventive corporate legal practice with academic research. She is the author of Artificial Intelligence in Art: Copyright and Regulation (Lumen Juris), in which she examines the implications of generative AI, blockchain technology, and copyright in the digital environment.
